Children of Gaza & Palestine

In Gaza’s embrace, where history weeps,
Children of Palestine, their vigil keeps.
Born into echoes of ancient disputes,
Their laughter amidst ruins, a tender refute.

In alleys where sunlight scarce dares to tread,
Amongst rubble, their dreams boldly spread.
Under the watch of an ever-closed sky,
Their spirits, resilient, refuse to die.

The sky above, a storied expanse,
Witness to their circumscribed dance.
Stars peek through the shroud of night,
Offering whispers of unclaimed light.

Olive trees, ancient, bear silent witness
To cycles of sorrow, brief glimpses of bliss.
The children, their laughter once freely roamed,
Now in shadows of sorrow, quietly homed.

May peace find its way to these storied lands,
Where children play in shifting sands.
May their futures reclaim the light,
Turning their prolonged night into bright.

This elegy, a solemn cry for the lost,
For dreams deferred at too great a cost.
In memory of those who dwell in strife,
May we strive for a harmonious life.
